About Alec Schemmel

An undergraduate student studying journalism and political science at American University, Alec Christopher Schemmel made the Dean’s List in 2018 as well as earning acceptance to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, a nonprofit organization committed to celebrating high academic achievers and encouraging them to lead honorable lives while positively impacting the world. With a focus on investigative journalism, breaking news and political reporting, Alec Schemmel is currently finishing up his time as an editorial intern at the Daily Caller News Foundation where he assists in filming, writing and editing newsworthy content. Among his accomplishments in the role, he has garnered more than 60,000 readers for some of his articles and over 800,000 social media views on some of his videos.

Alec Christopher Schemmel has received multiple awards for his work. These include receiving awards for “Best Sports Article” and “Best Sports Photograph” as part of the English Department Awards at Gannon University.

In addition to his activities as a student, Alec Schemmel engages with a number of causes and organizations. These include the Young Americas Foundation, Young Americans for Liberty, Students for Free Expression, the Leadership Institute, and Governor Larry Hogan’s 2018 re-election campaign.
